Wordmaker is a useful website that will create words from any series of letters you type in. Here are some ideas on how it can be used:
- As a warmer, learners are given a word from which they must create as many words as possible. For example, the word ‘vocabulary’ can be used to create ‘cavalry’, ‘labour’, ‘curly’, ‘vocal’, ‘royal’, ‘cola’, ‘boy’ and ‘you’. Wordmaker can be used to see all the words that can be made. In the case of the word ‘vocabulary’, there are 177 possible words!
- To generate examples of prefixed and suffixed words, a series of letters is entered onto the website and a search is performed to display words beginning/ending with those letters.
